Honey, let me tell you.... I used to be a housekeeper at a hotel, more than one... There isn't anything that is sanitary, believe me. It may look nice but I do know that the covers are NOT washed, unless there was an accident of some sorts. Also, there are some very lazy people working as housekeepers that didn't even change sheets that still looked clean. All I can say is take a very good look at the bedding. I stick with nothing being very sanitary. Maybe in the upper class hotels it is better. I won't name any names, just be very alert. Doorknobs, toilet seats, showers(floors), If you are a paranoid person, this email will probably make you Not want to stay in a hotel/motel. Just be aware of your surroundings.

The Bedspread - it's just gross!!!
When I sleep in a hotel that's the first thing I do - throw of the bedspread and fold up in a corner!

Yes it is unwise to leave a door unlocked in case a thief breaks in and takes valuables. Having said that there is always a fire risk and if children are inside makes it that much more difficult.to rescue them People may be aware of burglers but as child abductors are so rare people never give this a thought. How many on here would expect their child to be snatched from their own front garden.?

OMG, the freakin' bedspread! Apparently they never wash it! We used to travel with my dad on business ALL the time, and my mom would yank the bedspread off the bed and wad it up in the corner the minute we arrived. We were never allowed to touch it, and DEFINITELY not lay on it!

After reading an article on Bed Bugs, it would behoove you to purchase an air mattress and a few cheap pillows from the local wal mart and just rent an empty room if you can find one. Bed Bugs will sneak into your luggage, they are nasty critters and very hard to get rid of if you get one. They will travel very far to get to suck your blood and you get huge welts from it. You would do better to seriously pop a tent, or get your own camper. Take Care.-Rachel.
