I have a 2002 Dell Computer with an 80GB Maxim hard drive that is hooked up conventionally (with the flat serial cord). Can I hook this up to get data from it via USB, and if so how do I convert the flat cord to USB output. I am a novice computer guy, but have to get some pictures out of this machine.
Thanks!

Get a USB Hard Disk External Enclosure.

We had the same problem before and that is what we did to get the files.

If it is still in your comp and working you need to buy some USB storage device(pen/thumb drive) , but easier is to just burn the pics to CD/DVD or even a floppy if there are not too many.
