Well if it is novacaine or xrays you are worried about the dentist should be able to tell you whether it would affect the baby which I doubt. 2nd the dentist can tell you after an isolated xray how long before it becomes such an issue as to whether or not you may need more than just a crown or extraction....and not a root canal. It is worth a quick exam to see what the dentist says. I made the mistake of waiting so long.....I needed 3 crowns. But I totally understand that you may be concerned not to mention the fact that being pregnant is tough enough let on the body. But at 24 weeks you have quite a ways to go, see the dentist he / she will advise you. Take care, congrats on your baby! :-)

I was at the dentist on Monday and I'm 22 weeks pregnant, I told him that I was and he said that they just can't do x-rays but nothing else will harm the baby in any way. I also wanted to wait till after my baby was born but just thought I might not have time in the early weeks after his birth and I don't want to walk with that pain for so long.

I had the same problem when I was pregnant...for what ever reason, with every kid I got a cavity....I personally opted to wait till after I gave birth...then a few days later went and got the teeth fixed...but it is going to vary depending on if it is causing you pain, or swollen..or abscessed...It may not be a bad idea just to get it looked at..,they don't have to do anything if it makes you uncomfortable.

Yes, you need to talk to your dentist!! If the tooth is rotted you could get a infection!! Have him/her check it out and see what needs to be done, if there is no pain and no way of infection maybe you can wait!!

if its not hurting u then no problem as u can wait till delivery and hence just one loung in u r mouth will keep the pain aways when it hurts instead of taking any medicine or a phank of garlic kept under the tooth will also help.

I'm a man, so I haven't had this done pregnant. I would go see the dentist and explain the situation. He can adjust medication to calm your fears.
If that sucker abscesses, it will be nasty and could spread infection.

You don't need any drugs to have this done. Just get it pulled it only hurts for a few seconds. If the tooth is rotten there are more dangers in keeping it in your mouth then getting it pulled. I say get it tugged.
