I have done that. Of course my boss and I were friends and some of the yelling was in jest.
But if a boss were to yell at me I would definately let him know in no uncertain terms that if he couldn't speak to me in a respectful manner don't talk to me at all.

Admiration. Being boss doesn't give him/her a right to yell at you. If someone yells in your face you have the right to yell back.

If the boss sets the precedent that yelling is allowed then I say yell back.

I did that with one boss I had... for me it was simple, he may have owned the restaurant but I RAN the restaurant

people didn't scome in there because he owned the place, they came in because I was the chef, if he stopped making money I would have been to blame so I made sure we did things my was so that the place kept making money (he was an idiot anyway)

Reducing themselves to someone elses level.

"Yelling" makes you look immature and unreasonable. Like a grown person having a temper tantrum.

Just try to get the person's point and respond in a calm manner. Make them embarrased for their behavior.

Smart and sassy. I like it. However, if my boss ever had the balls to yell at me I would kick his @ss, then quit. They don't pay enough for that sh*t.
