It shed a large branch recently and the tree is becoming unsafe. Neubours have sheds near the tree so it could be dificult to fell without damage.

If you have to hire someone to remove it then make sure they ARE the ones responsible for any damage.
In the USA it would cost about $250.00 what ever the exchange rate elsewhere would have to be accounted for.
Me personally. I cut down a tree that tall over a period of 2 weeks with a 16" electric chain saw. I was 62 at the time.

If you were in Sydney, Australia and you got professional tree people (with insurance) to cut the tree down it would cost around $1000 to $1500 ...depends how solid it is, difficulties and whether you get the stump removed. You would also need council approval or risk a fine of $10000 ...obviously you don't live here or it would be a 9 metre tree

I've just had a quote this morning to fell 7 trees 5 of them are about 30' and the other 2 are smaller. £2030 + VAT. Thats including removing all debris and grinding stumps to below ground level.

About £350 to £500, the job of felling tree isn't particular difficult for a competent chainsaw operator, The most costly part of it is the removal of the waste. I t seems a lot of people forget about this part of the job .

find a athletic young man to climb up the tree and pay him to haul up a chain saw and cut it from the top down,starting on large branches,then eventually use an extension ladder for him to tie himself and ladder to the tree,have him cut the knotch in the tree so that he can guide it to fall away from him

It cost me £135, that's what BT charged me when I did it myself and took a phone line down to my neighbours, could have been worse, there were 6 lines in the tree altogether! lol
