cubans use their own pesos. Tourists buy and use the convertible peso which is only good in Cuba. I don't worry about having any left over after my visits, I know I'll be back and use them again. It's a wonderful country, Cubans are caring, proud of their country and welcome visiters with open arms. If you have the opportunity go there. Check the sites below, one is a conversion site for currency conversion. October 6th I've added more links you may find of interest.

Cuba is an island of the caribean , close to the tropic, so basically is a very tropical country , very hot , the weather average is hot in Winter , Hotter in Summer .. rain season is mostly in summer between April and September , the coast on the north of the country is rocky and sandy ( that is why our best beaches are on the north coast) , the coast in the south side is mostly kind of swampy ( but not all of it ).
Our land is mostly red, good for growing tobbaco and sugar cane ( SWEEET!) mostly.
Exchange : we have mostly 2 coins one for us( cuban peso) , regular mortals of the country and the CUC or chavitos

Cuba is the largest country by land area in the Caribbean. Its main island is the seventeenth-largest island in the world by land area.
Terrain is mostly flat to rolling plains, with rugged hills and mountains in the southeast. The lowest point is the Caribbean Sea at 0 m (sea level) and the highest point is Pico Turquino at 2,005 m (6,578.1 ft).
It has two official currencies - the convertible peso (CUC) which is currently fixed at 1 CUC = 1.08 USD (though there are additional fees if you try to change cash) - and the ordinary peso (CUP or MN) which is fixed at 24 or 25 to the CUC.
