I worked there quite a few years ago when I was in high school and we did not put salt on the hash browns. We just lowered them into the oil for a few minutes and that was it.

Hash Browns? Is that what they were? I thought they were salt tablets they had so much salt on them.

I think a lot of that depends on the people working at each individual McDonalds.

I've had them with so much salt you couldn't eat them. Then a different McDonalds they didn't have any salt at all on them,

McDonalds will salt them. But if you ask for unsaled they will make you some hot out the oil and will not salt them. I know from experience. Because I ask all the time because I have high blood pressure.

The hashbrowns are pre-seasoned so you cannot ask for them not to have salt. We do NOT salt them when they come out of the fryer. If someone doesn't want a lot of salt on their fries all they have to do is ask for light salt or no salt on the fries and then get some salt packets and salt the fries themselves.
