Standing by the windows doesn't work and is only marginally helpful. I can't mount anything outside either. I need to use AT&T. I don't mind gadgets or devices that would help me get a better signal.

Hi Jon
There are really only a couple of things you can do.
1st - Purchase a cellular repeater. Most require an outdoor antena and the cost of purchase is high so that rules that option out
2 - What phone are you using? Phones play a part in reception. As an example, most Nokia's, Motorola's and SE phones offered through att have outstanding RF compared to the LG's and Samsungs. At my work, I have a Nokia and Motorola that can get good reception in our warehouse and outstanding reception in the office. Compared to other people in the office with Samsung and LG that have no reception in the warehouse and limited (at best) in the office
You can also see if att has any updates they can push to your phone. Also, if you have an older sim card (32 bit or 64) you can also try a new 3g sim card
If brand of phone doesnt help along with updates and a new 3g sim, then as the other poster said, you might be better off with a different carrier that can get reception where you use the phone the most
Cheers

Try turning the phone off when you get home and turning it back on about 5 minutes later.. It will look for the closest signal tower.

there is rather no longer something you're able to do to make your sign better. the ideal suggestion i can giver you is look at a coverage map, which you will locate on your vendors internet site, and notice how the coverage is on your section. you will be greater applicable off switching agencies. case in point, T-cellular may well be greater applicable in one section extremely than Verizon. It rather actual relies upon. each and every company does not have remarkable coverage in each and every section. wish it somewhat is sensible. stable success.
