I gave birth 7 weeks ago and apart from the loss after labour, I have had no signs of bleeding. just wondering when my periods are likely to start again?

I couldn't breastfeed as my babys blood sugar level was dangerously low. They had to give him a bottle immediately because he wouldnt take to the breast.

Women who do breastfeed may not get a period until they wean. I got mine when my daughter was seven months old.

If you aren't nursing, it still might be a couple of months since your body still needs to regulate its cycles.

I take it that this is your first baby. Menstruation after a child birth differs in every individual. It could be influenced by various factors also, such as breast feeding, your health - physically and mentally, etc. Sometime, some mothers don't menstruate at all if they had unprotected sex once her fertility is back after birth. It's difficult to determine when will your period after a child birth, but most mothers have it after three or four months.

hmm this is different for everyone. with me i had my bleeding from giving birth which started to majorly ease of by about 3 weeks but then the day after it got heavy again, i was told this would have been my first period. i then got another period about 4 weeks after that, i was breastfeeding to and did so until my son was about 3/4 months old. like i say people are different and they say average u will get one at about 8 weeks post natel

Could be a long time, especially if you're nursing. Mine only came back when my daughters were 14 and 17 months old! (I was still nursing, a lot for the second one, and for the first I was exercising an awful lot.)

Ther is really no way to tell you this because every woman is different. If you are exclusively nursing, that will likely delay your period for several months. If you aren't exclusively nursing, your period will return much sooner.
