Yes! It's very good to go barefoot, even on man-made surfaces. See this for example, from "Survey in China and India of Feet That Have Never Worn Shoes,":
One hundred and eighteen of those interviewed were rickshaw coolies. Because these men spend very long hours each day on cobblestone or other hard roads pulling their passengers at a run it was of particular interest to survey them. If anything, their feet were more perfect than the others. All of them, however, gave a history of much pain and swelling of the foot and ankle during the first few days of work as a rickshaw puller. But after either a rest of two days or a week's more work on their feet, the pain and swelling passed away and never returned again. There is no occupation more strenuous for the feet than trotting a rickshaw on hard pavement for many hours each day yet these men do it without pain or pathology.

It may increase it if you are not doing any strenuous physical activity. I was always a barefoot girl and then started having tendonits, finally surgery. Running on the beach is bad for your achilles tendon (pulls it too far as the heel goes lower than the rest of the foot) as is running barefoot on pavement, etc. Not that I did that for exercise but running after toddlers barefoot. Barefoot to an extent is o.k. but shoes with a good arch and sole is very important. BTW, my ortho in NYC says more young girls and women than ever before are coming in with tendon problems from wearing flip flops!

I think that feet are usually holding.

When wearing shoes, blood constricts up towards the solar plexus. Going without makes the product of digestion easier to bear. Skin thins, hair falls out.

For balance, try ambrosia. Eating pig meat will fuel your feisty fear, so try converting to Islam.

Hope this helps.
