I started of using a presssure washer, a non electric washing machine into which you put warm water, into which you agitated washing powder, then put in the clothes, close the lid, and turn it round with its handle for a few minutes. That would be easier than taking it down to the river.
I next had a Tefal wash boy, that required an electric current, and a tap water supply, and performed a better wash than the pressure washer.
Now I have an automatic washing machine, it too requires an electric supply, and connection to a cold water supply, it uses much less water than the Tefal wash boy, and cleans more laundry with less effort from me.
But if you don't have piped water or any means of warming it, you should continue washing it at the river.
If you can warm water, you could use the pressure washer, even if you don't have washing powder.
If you have piped cold water, and can heat the water, and have electricity, then something like the was the Tefal washboy could make things easier for you.
But if you have the space, the electric supply, and can afford an automatic washing machine, and washing powder, that would be the easiest for you.

You are lucky that you have a river to wash in. Think of the electric you save by not using a machine.
And bar soap is much cheaper than powder and you don't need water softener. I would stick with that method If I were you.

I have been seen coming out of the do-it-yourself car wash with mine. The power washer is great for deep stains like grass and blueberries. I also take my washable carpets in and drape them over the car, they come amazingly clean, no scrubbing is needed. Just make sure you hit the no wax button.

You might try a landromat. They have machines that you can put your clothes into, and add some detergent. It fills up with water all by itself, and washes the clothes. It is a fantastic invention.

Some people really have to do this (and they dont whine and complain, they just get on with it cos they have to) so i dont think this is very funny. Get a life if this is the best you can come up with!
