This site is starting to take on the nasty habits of the rest of YQ&A.
As seniors, of an age to know better, some of you are stooping to child tactics, just because you either don't care for a question, the person asking the question, or someone is telling you what to do-like causing someone to get a violation when they really don't deserve one.
Then some of you are sending nasty e-mails to folks. Time to rethink what you are doing folks & who you might be doing it for.
We love the jokes, stories, & other neat stuff that folks here share. If you don't care for them then just skip to the next Q etc.
Are we bending the rules a bit? Yes! But in a darn nice way!!!
Now before you reply to this, read it again! Then either ans. or not. It doesn't deserve a violation!

AMEN!!!

let's get things back to the way they were just a few short weeks ago.
i enjoy the jokes, stories and other neat goings on here
i just wish that they would all leave us alone
i am about to leave myself - if i wanted this kind of cr*p i would have stayed in high school
i have "met" some very interesting people on this site and found out that one person doesn't live very far from me (you know who you are) and also had some very valuable information about how to set up my account so that i couldn't come under troll attack (you know who you are too). this was all done by email so as not to "violate" anyone
i have been blocked by one person here and i don't even know why
i have also exchanged emails with other contacts just because - because they are kind, caring people
so what if we DO bend the rules - are we really hurting anything or anybody?!
when i come across a question that either doesn't interest me or i feel i have nothing to contribute to it, then i skip it.
before you know it, we will have to remove receiving emails from other people, and that will be a shame

Dragon, I haven't been around much for the past few days, but saw what was happening last week...not so nice. I happen to agree with you...IF someone is in real trouble, YA is NOT the place to come for advice. This site is designed for a fun respite, not a psych couch. When we take things too seriously, (and some do here), it looses the silly, fun aspects. This section, in particular, is a place to share memories, be silly, and bend a few rules...big deal! Nothing is going to stop in the world because someone doesn't really ask a question. Anyone reporting here is either too old to be at a computer, or is just mean hearted. I also think that the thumbs up or down is something that can be eliminated completely...all it means is that someone either agrees with you or doesn't...big deal.
AS for emails, I have sent emails ONLY when being attacked on a personal level, and then not a mean email, but to find out what the hell I have done to make them dislike me. Other than that, all emails I send are of a complimentary tone.
I have no reason or need to attack anyone here. If others feel compelled to do so, perhaps we should consider the source and leave them alone. Before I found this section, I had all but abandoned YA! because of the constant nastiness I found here. Nothing stays the same, but here, I would like to see things stay, at least, on a civil tone.
I am with you 100%. Love and peace to all, will rejoin you next week, assuming you are all still here. Goldwing (Phil)

You are SO right with this. And yet I notice that some questions (and answers) posted after yours are continuing this same old practise of trying to foment discord and contention!

Maybe we should just start thinking of these nay-sayers as pre-dementia and treat their questions and answers as senior brain f*rts!

I only ever give thumbs up when I agree with someone's point of view....yes even those few users on here who ALWAYS give me thumbs down, have gotten a thumbs UP from me when I agree with them. I am not petty.

As to the violations...you will never see me giving you one of those Dragon. This question is nothing more than the speaking of common sense, and does not deserve any violations.

I have been "visiting" seniors for about 3 months, as a great retreat from the effects, viciousness of the politics category. And not bothering to answer your intelligent questions.
YES, it IS sad to say, that in the past few weeks, the atmosphere here, seems to have changed.
Sad, Sad, Sad, that the honorable, quiet, matured, experienced is under assault, possably to become polluted akin to the other categories. (I have been suspended 5 times, once, twice in less than one(1) hour, for defending our military troups going where they were ordered to go).
AND the polluters hide behind the anonymity of y/a security.
Sad, Sad, Sad.

I was having fun, now the thumbs down started again, I can't imagine why though

Truthfully, I can't see why there would be disapproval from anyone. You have the option of answering it or not. I don't answer in the music category much because I have a "black hole" when it comes to names of songs and artists and it just escapes me, but i read them so I can find out and learn something

I truly don't understand this Internet politics, hated office politics too.......

In any case, I was having fun, I never reported any one except one person whop was insulting people of color

I whole heartily agree with your comments.
As a senior player?, if you like. I am of the opinion that there are too many people out there, waste "Good, talk space"?, with there comments?.
Its virtually Impossible, to get a "C hat Line" regardless of age that Isn't completely silly?, with every form "Of Cursing", and violation they can get away with. If somebody, by the way< can advice me on a Good Chat line?, I would be delighted to hear from them??.
So, finally "Cheers, for an excellent comment, (Or comments). Lets have more like that, Keep this service Good.

I agree. That is, in part, why I'm not around quite as much. I find myself ignoring more questions and even more often get annoyed at the types of answers I see to other questions. We've been invaded. This used to be a special section, and with more nice people coming in to see if what they heard about us is true, the bad seeds followed.

Ditto on all that goldwing said....I don't use thumbs down and don't report anyone unless it is blatant racism or super foul langugage............etc. Frankly, I think this recent 'invasion' is from folk who are other than seniors that have nothing better to do and are somewhat warped in their mentality.

I, too, had almost abandoned Y!A - until I found Seniors....now this is the only category I visit because it's relatively sane, fun, feels good and I 'like' the members :-)

I agree whole heartedly with everyone here. I got my first violation today and I don't really give a darn. I lost 8 points ! When you think people are losing their homes to cave-ins or being trapped in mines or worse , we need to put things in perspective it isn't important in the scheme of things. Let's have fun .It's a new day and we're still here.

Yes I'm new to this site and I noticed the other day that I have been blocked by someone, and I haven't even answered any of her questions. I know, I went back and checked all my answers. So why would she do that.
