Assistant GM John Mozeliak will be the interim GM as the Cards front office looks for a replacement. Jocketty and DeWitt didn't see eye-to-eye for awhile apparently...
Jocketty had a history of making moves that paid off ala Mark McGwire, Jeff Weaver, Edgar Renteria, etc. but this past season signed Adam Kennedy and Kip Wells...two moves that turned out to be disappointing.

"DeWitt" is Bill DeWitt, the owner. Should have been more clear about that.

I was surprised to read he was gone......................you know LaRussa is talking of leaving and my first thought with Jocketty was that maybe he and LaRussa didn't see the team the same way ---- and they cut Jocketty to keep LaRussa.
Just a thought.
Maybe it was just time for him to retire and for a new person with a new vision to take over..............

Baseball is very unforgiving, one or two mistakes and you are out. Unfortunately Jocketty had a few problems and he is gone. It is really too bad because I believe he has always been one of the better GM's in the game.
