No one really knows why out of the blue some players have 'career years'. Norm Cash batted .361 in 1961 to win the batting title. Never hit .300 again. Brady Anderson, a 50 stolen base lead-off hitter type, hits 50+ home runs one year. The list of these career years is actually long and astounding.
So Jorge Posada just had his career year. It is highly doubtful that he will do it again. This is one of the things that makes baseball so far superior than other sports. It's a team sport and a sport where the individual can shine, too.

Because he is one of the hardest working players in baseball. He is a self admitted gym rat, and each year has worked hard to improve his abilities.
He came to the majors as a backup cather, converted from a middle infielder. He was absoluetly attrocious behind the plate. He did have offensive promise, demonstrating a little power with the stick.
In both regards, he has worked hard to be an above avererage, if not all star caliber catcher, with productive offensive statistics.
Simply stated, hard work pays off , and he is a warrior during the off season.

Posada has always been a decent hitter and it all came together for him this year. It is difficult for a catcher to continuously put up big numbers because they always have nagging injuries as a result of their catching duties. Everything went just right for him this year and it was well deserved, he has been an asset to his team and the game for many years.

Posada has always been a decent hitter.
His son is now healthy, and that must have a huge mental effect. He has a fantastic lineup surrounding him also.

Noone knows, probably because he has learned more over the years.
People said he was done three years ago, since then he has had better and better offensive years!
I dunno if he can have this season ever again but BRAVO TO JORGE!

it was the last year of his contract so he knew he had to put up big numbers to be able to get the big money.
