Well, it all depends on preference. In my opinion, the E6850 is a better choice, since it's pretty stable to overclock, however it can cost a lot more than the Athlon x2 6000, which also isn't a bad cpu by any means. But if you have the extra money to spend, get the E6850, as it's sure to please.

Ok first of all the only ones who think Intel is so great are the people who watch to many tv commercials. Now if you ask the hard core computer people they will all tell you AMD. Its just a fact AMd has been outclassing Intel for as long as I can remember......which is kinda funny since Intel owned AMD until they sold it off. Intels are over priced and underpowered. here is a link that goes to a great site called Toms Hardware they are a great place to find out what a product can truly do. Now this chart I picked is doing a bench mark of 50% gaming 50% Applications and also price. Look for the red bar that is the ones they felt were the best. As you will see the AMD got a score of 20.32...the Intel got a 28.53...the lower the # the better. Now this shows AMD is best. http://www23.tomshardware.com/cpu_2007.html?modelx=33&model1=921&model2=872&chart=444
Now I just went to Pricewatch.com to look up prices...The Intel Core 2 Duo e6850...is $275.00...The AMD Athlon 64 x2 6000 is $228.00....Hey guess what that is almost $50.00 difference ....money that could be put towards a better video card or sound card etc.....Take a look at the benchmarks and you make the decision but if you look at it unbiased you will see AMD is the correct choice....oh just one more tidbit....if Intel is so great the why did Microsoft work with AMD on the 64 windows and why did they optimize XP to be used with and AMD chip....just some food for thought......no matter which chip you buy the worst thing you can do is buy a cheap junk motherboard make sure you research this also. Have fun!!!

Hi,
AMD - Athlon X2 6000 - Dual Core Skt AM2.
If you work Graphic And animation ,because popline in the AMD is short and very good for switch to other software, rendering time is Fast in the lighting effect with rendering software like Mental ray
GOOD LUCK my friend

intel core 2 duo is the best performance out of every processor that is out right now. That one with 3 gzh and 4mb is massive and you will be future proofed for a good number of years.

the graphics card will be taking the blunt force of the rendering there sarj, and if he can afford these processors then he can afford a graphics card. It would be a major waste to get one of these processors and limit it to an onboard integrated graphics card.

before the core2duo came out, yes amd was better for games etc... the core2 is can do everything better than any of the other processors out right now, check the performance reviews if you dont believe me.

Gaming, animation etc - AMD may be extra appropriate.. working each and daily purposes (MS place of work, text cloth modifying, different classes) - Intel may be extra appropriate. i might propose the AMD, and dont hear to that bullshit approximately them overheating, i've got had 2 diff AMD processors over the final 4 years with no longer a single concern of heating or the rest..

Core2 Duo E6850 is unbeatable and I'm NOT guessing. Here are the facts, benchmarks I mean:

Quad core Q6600 only shines when overclocked and beats an overclocked E6850:
