The last I heard he earns around $250 per second, it's not like he's going without to donate that money. It is a very noble and beautiful thing for him to do, don't get me wrong, but come on the man is frankly stinking rich, what else is he going to do with it? He might as well put it to good use and better other people's lives. I bet he still earns so much from the 25% he keeps that he still has more than he knows what to do with.

Why do so many atheists on here think that christians dont believe atheists have morals? I have never heard any christian in my life make that assertion. Most of the questions here ask where they get their moral center, not proclaiming that they have no morals. Maybe people actually are curious as to what atheists base their morality on. Asking that question is not a bash on atheists or a statement that atheists have no morals. Vishal I have to agree with you on the whole tax write off thing. All it does it make it so you dont have to pay taxes on the money you donated. It isnt like you get to subtract those figures from the money after you donate it. You are still giving away the money you would have had after it was taxed. I never understood why people claim its for tax break purposes.

He is a good man, but it also gives him a tax break. It is the same reason NBA players donate so much to charity. If they don't then they get hit real bad by taxes, and bill being the wealthiest man would be hit 10 times worse, donating so much money gives him a major tax break, though he still pays more taxes then most people make in a years salary.

That is incorrect. It is 75% of his salary from Microsoft that he donates. Although it's a hefty sum, he still has many other incomes. I do give him and his beautiful wife credit for their generosity. He gets picked on a lot wether deserving or not, it often overshadows the good he does. I know because he has been good to New Orleans and the area around it.

That is wonderful! I agree with you if all the rich people in the world donated like that we would have a lot more cancer research being done and other good things.

I wish there were more like him, but we have all been socialised into greed for ourselves and our immidiate family.
We can't help it, we are conditioned that way, but some can over come it like Bill Gates

Let's face it, his income is in the billions probably yearly. How much money can you spend? You can only buy so many houses, so many cars, so much stuff. I think it is wonderful that he donates so much, but he still has plenty to live well on. It's not like he makes $100,000 and is donating $75,000 and scraping by on $25,000. It is admirable that he and Warren Buffet do donate so much, but again, they have it to give.
