Is the RAM still in there? Without RAM the system will not boot.

Did you replace the old hard drive? If so, pull the replacement and boot without a hard drive.

Are you sure that the new monitor works? If you disconnect it from the system do you get a "Check signal cable" or similar test message?

It may be the action of pulling the system, opening it up, etc. has disturbed a poor contact. Unplug and replug everything.

Check that no other connections or cables have been disturbed, try removing everything but the bare minimum to get the system to boot (1 memory stick, + video card)

Did you ground yourself properly when you worked on the system? You may have ESD zapped something.

If there is no single beep and PC does not even display POST (black and white text on screen), your friend disconnected other things other than the hard drive. Even without any hard drive, a bare set up can POST and open BIOS menu. If it can not load Windows, it is probably on the 80gb hard drive that was removed.

Maybe, the Display drivers of your computers must have been saved on your 80gb hard-drive...and when its removed, your monitor cannot work...!

It looks to me that your OS for the 433Mhz pc is on the 80gb harddrive, with everything else that is needed to run it, including the video driver.
