People have individually attached in several kinds of attachment not only the materials: money, car, brand names but also subjectives: fame, ambition or even kindness. All attachments are the cause of suffering. Which one is the most? For me, I have a problem about competition. I hardly accept to lose; in the past I tried to beat every enemy and competitor. But now I realize this is the suffering path because it evokes some evils such as jealousy, anger, desires, and other negative minds, and accept to be the loser.

Everyone needs to ask themselves WHY are you needing to compete for anything, against someone else? Is it to procure your freedom?? a worthy cause. Is it to look better than someone else because that is the only way you will not look like a geek?? Then you might have self esteem issues. Sports for fun is fun, sports for outshining someone else will attract the emotional issues you mentioned like desire, anger jealous. Why must you be a loser because your points weren't higher than someone else? Were your methods to win honerable and honest? tThen the universe sees you a winner. Did you cheat to win?? Then you really didn't win, you are a loser. Every situation in this life watches our contuct and we are paid back for how we chose to react. If you doubt me research those shrewd clever prison inmates who thought they would get away with murder, robbery, rape, or any sort of violence. A big secret in this world is ready to be exposed and I will tip you off to that now so you have a headstart. You can be the best of the best and still achieve that being a good guy, a nicer person, a kind and considerate human being and you won't walk away from a competition where you didn't "win", feeling angry at yourself or anyone else. Please practice this effort for a month. Relax and remember you are here to improve yourself and not by having to humiliate others in the bargain. Be a sport, be kind and enjoy knowing that when you 'beat their socks off' you will be no more pleased than if they were the 'winners'. Competitors can be friends too. Many blessings and as far as 'attactment' goes, there is an interesting eastern philosophy that says "Beware of attachment because it lends an imaginary halo of attractiveness to your object of desire'. So remember that a clear conscience is the best indicator in this world of whether you are a winner or not.

For me, it's definitely the attachment that you have with being too competitive. You have to ease up a little... Loosen up... I know how it feels. Trying to be the best in everything. In being the best you must beat the best. You have to be the greatest. The best in the race and all that jazz. Then one day you'll realize that you've been wasting your youth, time and life with all these worldliness. But, what would you do then? There are only two choices. One, you'd ease up on life. Or two, you'll keep doing what you do. It's because you are addicted to that certain attachment. And you're so high on it that it became your fuel. It becomes you-the person that you are.

Its attachment itself that causes suffering as its tobacco that causes cancer. Different types of attachment are akin to different brands of cigarettes
