Yes, all directx10 cards are directx9 compatable. If they made it so they were only dx10 they would not be selling nearly as many, over 85% of people still own windows xp, only about 6% have gotten vista yet.

YES, the DX10 card is backward compatible with DX9. I'm actually using one right now in Win XP. AND of course, the DX9 cards are not forward compatible to DX10.

specific you may play DX9 video games and all previous video games that run on DX. specific that's well worth it to get the DX10 grpahics card because of the fact the greater moderen video games will run on DX10(Halo 2 Vista working example).

ya ofcourse you can use it it will never affect your system where as you cannot do it in reverse .
