They say to write about what you know. How does the sky look during a thunderstorm? Describe the clouds. Are they light fluffy cumulus clouds, or dark threatening nimbus clouds? Lightening? Describe. Do you see it or hear it before the thunder? Does it crack, rumble, or sound like angels playing a game of ten pins (bowling) in the clouds?

How do you feel while all this is going on? Are you out dancing in the street like Gene Kelly in "Singin' in the Rain?" Are you sailing little paper boats in the puddles? Possibly the wind is blowing so strongly, it blew your umbrella inside out, and you got drenched. Are you inside looking out the window mentally saying, "Rain, rain, go away. Come again another day, because you wanted to play outside. Describe some of these situations I have suggested, or your own experiences, to beef up your essay. I'm sure you'll do great!

Anything can be described, a view, a taste, a smell, a sound, anything. The best descriptive subjects are usually views described so well that the reader can clearly picture it in his/her mind. I remember a summer day in the country not so long ago. It was warm, about 85, I think and the sky was that gorgeous chicory blue, not dark blue, but a light blue just a little lighter than royal blue. There was a breeze which kind of pushed cottonball clouds across the sky, and spread the sweet smell of honeysuckle through all the open windows of the house..... No doubt you can do better. Involve all the senses and use imagery to enhance the word description you're creating on paper. Start from a specific point and work your way around the landscape until you reach the focal point of your essay. Have fun.

a descriptive essay depicts the situation. meaning you have to just describe the topic itself. give its characteristics and everythihng about it..then a little bit explanation. make some research bout your topic then explain briefly!
