The freezer trick only works if your drive is over heating. If it's making any kind of noises it's likely a head stack failure. You're not going to have the tools to get it running again. If your data's really important, talk to a data recovery professional. http://www.cbltech.com

that sound is done by the computers bios its trying to read the disk. To recover lost data from hard disk is 7 to 10, I suggest that the disk drive be replaced if it continues to not read the disk, if not check you disk on a different computer and if it does work your data can be retrieved, other wise the disk is defective if it doesn't work.

Try this, I call it reverse polarity, take the hdd out of the computer, and I put the hdd in your fridge freezer over night, the next day take the hdd and put it back in the computer ice cold and try it, if you do get it going save what you need on a back up disk quick, and replace hdd. I'll bet not to many people know about that little trick and believe me it works, just don't tell anyone about it. haha. good luck

that sound is the sound of the death of your hard drive. and yes the data that is in it is also gone but there are unorthodox techniques which you can try in order to resuscitate the drive and give it just a bit of a time to work again and give you a chance to copy your data.

the trick i know (which worked for me) is the freezer technique. here goes:
- put the dead drive in a ziplock (it must be totally sealed)
- put the drive in the freezer and let it stay there for an hour or so (i left mine inside for 24 hours)
- put it out and let it thaw on its own till it reaches room temperature. if moisture is present let it dry completely.
- take the drive out of the ziplock (make sure o moist or water is present. and put it back in the PC
- if the drive is revived, quickly backup your data to another drive.

some drives are revived using this procedure and then dies afterwhich. (like what happened to me). if it still does not work, redo the freezer technique and then give it a hard tap or two using your fist afterwards. then try putting it back in the PC.

a lot of info can be found in the web. try googling with phrases "freezer technique hard drive".

goodluck.

If you mean it sounds like it's grinding or clicking , your hard disk crashed.

Replace the hard drive ASAP.

Oh yeah, and your personal data is gone forever. I hope you have backups.
