disc ejects while trying to create recovery discs on a new HP laptop (using vista recovery manager)?

I am following instructions carefully. Using HP DVD-R, which it says it takes 2, but when it gets to verifying disc info, it ejects and says it encountered a problem and couldn't finish and will resume where it left off . it ejected in same place both times .
It had a (20) after the error message.

Call HP Tech Support, they are paid to solve problems like this.

It's in the start menu, but when I did it for my sister hp dv6000 computer, I was unable to create the disks, as cd 2 kept on failing. I ending up calling hp, and they sent my sister her recovery cd's for free.
