I lived there for a period.
I might travel back in future, but do at present have other places to see, other places to go.

Good spot, that Vietnam, I live in Saigon part time. This trip I've been here for 4 months. I also travel around SE Asia and in this part of the world Vietnam is the best spot to hang out. All thought it's more of a country you feel than travel to hit the high spots. Thailand has a better infrastructure and in turn is easier to get off the beaten track with lots of tourist related sights. Cambodia has a couple spots in Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and then you can visit the beach in Sihanoukville so even with lousy infrastructure it's easy.
While Vietnam, to get off the tourist trail is complicated so most don't but if you take the time you will see what I mean by feeling the country. Then you'll also see why I like to travel to Vietnam

I spent 18 months travelling around Asia and of that i spent 6 weeks in Vietnam. If i had to choose then i'd say Vietnam was my favourite country. They call it The Land of Smiles, even if i've got that confused with another country, it also is the land of smiles. The people, food and scenery are the best!
I intend to go back there in the next year and seeing a bit more.
If you do go best of luck and i'm sure you'll have the best time ever.

Xin chao, yes I would love to travel to Vietnam and plan to do so very soon (Jan/Feb) I have some lovely friends out there, the people are so nice (most of them) like anywhere else you will get your bad ones, but usually they are nice, the country is beautiful and the food is good (you will find some strange nosh) and a lot of people speak English ( Tieng Anh) so I am really looking forward to going, might even bump into you there, if so, " Hen som gap lai, nho giu gin suc khoe, tam biet", = see you soon, take care, good bye for now.

I have many times, but I haven't been to most places in Vietnam, and from what I've seen so far, I'd like to see a lot more. It's a great country with great people, if you haven't been, see it before McDonalds and Starbucks ruins it.
