People have a sex change because their gender is wrong, they feel that inside their head that the body they were born with is incorrect, and due to the joys of modern surgery they can fix it and have the body they were born with.
People are gay/lesbian/bisexual because they are attracted to a certain gender (or genders) that are the same or different from the one they have.
Both are totally independant issues, this person was unfortunate enough to have to deal with both, being a gay man trapped in the body of a straight woman, this must have been extremely traumatic to come to terms with, and its a good thing that you're asking questions in order to understand them, I'm sure they appreciate it.

i don't think you are being judgemental it is a question that many people have wondered but been too afraid to ask, having a sex change is based on feelings of being in the wrong body, with the wonders of modern surgery people no longer have to suffer and can change how they look, the person you know was probably a gay man trapped in a females body, a lot of people who are gay have said that they knew from an early age they were attracted to the same sex as them, the fact that this gentleman was born a woman is just unlucky, but remember they are still a human being, a person can not help how they feel, i hope now that he has had a sex change he is able to find peace in his life, it is not a brain reversal it is just how the gentleman is a man in a females body who knows hes gay, that is a lot to go through and come out the other side, anyone who goes through this much to be happy really deserves the best in life.

I dont know if you realise it but you have actually brought up 3 topics. Ill answer all in turn. 1. why does a man change his sex to be a woman then become a lesbian? Because sexuality and gender do not necessarily go hand in hand. If it did, we would ALL be straight. A person who feels as though theyre a woman can transition, and then feel that she is attracted to women rather than men. Ive met plenty of translesbians, its quite common actually. 2. As a man you can get any woman is a very loaded statement dont you think? Pretty untrue generally anyway, but we will stick to transpeople here as this is what youre asking. If you were so desperately unhappy with your body and felt you wanted to be a woman, you wouldnt be able to get a woman. They would know you wanted to be a woman, and if they liked men, chances are they would leave you. (Plus, you might get a hankering to borrow their clothes and lets face it, many women dont like that). 3. As a woman it is difficult? A woman chasing a woman? or a transwoman approaching a woman? Im guessing you mean the latter. Well, since we will assume the woman is now happier as she is living as her true gender, she would have more confidence than before. She might find herself a lesbian, or another transwoman (two transwomen together is actually very common). Or she might like a female to male transsexual guy. Hope this helps.

The simple answer is, he is a gay man.

The term transsexual is a transitionary stage between what you were physically, and what you are about to become.

Sex and sexuality is the last thing on someones mind when they consider a life change such as this.
For many, it a question of survival and functionality as a person.

To live as the original birth sex is unbearable, and many people commit suicide as transitioning is still not seen as acceptable in todays society.

Throw all your preconceptions away, and accept him for what he is.....A man.

Please remeber the one thing about transsexuals....We walk among you..

I'm sorry, but if you say it's bizarre then you ARE judging him.

It's simply, as another answerer said, a combination of issues:

1. This gentleman was born in a female body and needed gender re-alignment.

2. This gentleman is gay.

Please don't confuse being gay with wanting to be the opposite sex.

Simple really.

A woman wouldn't 'have a sex change to be a man'; but a transsexual man would. If that transsexual man was also gay, it's only to be expected that he would 'look for man for sex'(sic).

Gender is not the same as sex, and gender identity is not the same as sexual orientation.

I am with Doug here, I suppose. This person seems to be from your description, a Gay FTM Transsexual. Please keep in mind that body image/gender, and sexuality are two very different topics.

Keep an open mind and heart,
Good Luck and Goddess Bless.

This person can never be a true man physically but is now able to live in the male role they wanted.

They can't satisfy a woman sexually like a man can but don't want a lesbian type relationship either. Instead they choose to have sex with a genetic man as a submissive gay partner.
