Oh yeah, they know. And be prepared to get tired of it! One of my dogs constantly needs to lay on my stomach. I only have a couple weeks to go, and am so glad because he won't leave me alone! Your hormones have changed and they sense that. Just make sure your dog doesn't go overboard. I know it got to the point with me that he wouldn't let my boyfriend sit with me, unless he was sitting inbetween us. You want to break all bad habits before they really form. Read plenty of books because this protective behavior will continue. And he may become jealous when baby comes home. There are a lot of great solutions for all of this! Congrats and good luck!

They dont know you are due a baby at the end of 9 mnts
but Dogs can detect differences in your mood, posture, behavior, and body chemistry that clue them in to the enormous changes you're going through.

Your pheromones smell different when you're pregnant. There are a lot of physiological changes in a woman when she becomes pregnant, and some of these can manifest themselves in the smell. Dogs are pretty keen on that front.

They can tell...my friend had a viscious rottweiller (female) and when my sister was pregnant the dog would sit by her feet and gaze up at her...she would not leave my sisters side and when any man came near she would growl at them.

many people think dogs can tell when people are pregnant. a friend of mine is pregnant and her husband said that their dog acted very protective of her and they thought it was very odd, it was before they even knew she was pregnant.
