I think so. I work as a grocery checker and many of the customers never say Thank You or Please. They just demand it. That's when I try to pick up the pace, take that extra mile and be polite no matter where I am or who I'm talking to.
I want to be remembered as that random guy who really was extra nice to everyone around him. And I want to be that inspiration and role model to others. After all...you never know who's looking up to you.

There are a few of us left. I am appalled at the lack of social courtesy today, but I suppose to a lot of people it is completely unimportant, or something they never learned from their parents or teachers etc. Society is collapsing, and almost everyone is just looking out for Number One.
Even some of your respondents have answered very rudely a question about social courtesy!

I totaly agree, social courtesy is pritty much dead it seems.
Just a point though, it is common courtesy to step out of the way of a woman with a pram.

The whole paradigm of social behavior is under going a change for good, bad or worst and what you say is only a small part of it.At this rate, the worst is still to come, unless something is done about it soon.

People only care about themselves these days. You watch shopping habits and driving habits. People are obviously intent on getting there first, and don't care who they have to mow over in order to do it.
Of course, I noticed that if you scream at people then they get the picture. Just ask the guy who stood way too effin' close to me in the line to get pizza. He was literally breathing down my neck. :D

Yes it would appear they have. I blame the break-down of the class system, many people think it's OK to barge past and not have respect for anyone or anything.

I think so! And people are very 'cocky' nowadays too. Do you know what else is lethal too, as well as prams?.......................Umbrellas! Nasty pieces of work those, could take your eye out in the wrong hands, should be banned!
