I have a sinus infection. my doctor has me on antibiotics and a nasal decongestant as well as taking advil for any pain. The past day and a half i haven't been able to sleep because of the pain from the pressure.......it is all on the right side of my face...the pressure is making my ear hurt, my mouth and my head. i have tried putting both a cold and hot compress on it to try and make some of the pain go away and that works for a little while but the pain is still there. does anyone have any suggestions on what to do to relieve some of the pain?

Stick w/ the warm compresses. "Although sinus infection cannot be cured by home remedies, people can use them to lessen their discomfort. Inhaling steam from a vaporizer or a hot cup of water can soothe inflamed sinus cavities. Another treatment is saline nasal spray, which can be purchased in a pharmacy. A hot water bottle; hot, wet compresses; or an electric heating pad applied over the inflamed area also can be comforting." http://www.webmd.com/cold-and-flu/sinusitis-allergies?page=3

Consider rinsing your sinuses w/ a saline solution.

From drweil.com: "I also recommend regularly flushing your nasal passages with a warm saline solution to relieve sinus congestion and prevent sinus infections. Do this two to four times a day if you have an active infection. You can use a Neti Pot, a traditional, Indian nasal-irrigation device shaped like Aladdin's lamp that lets you pour the water into your nose. Or simply dissolve a ¼ teaspoon of salt in one cup of warm water and pour some of the solution into your cupped hand and inhale it through one nostril while closing the other with a finger. Alternatively, you can sniff the solution from a small cup or squirt it into your nostrils with a rubber-bulb syringe. The idea is to inhale enough water to spit it out through your mouth." http://www.drweil.com/drw/u/id/QAA326609
