The link you gave us has very beautiful selections. I think people choose butterflies in decorative items because they are beautiful and can come in such an infinite variety of colors. Jewelry designers must love to show their creativity by the versatility the butterfly allows. Plus the wings can give the structure movement. I know I certainly appreciate their efforts because it seems I am a collector--I have so many pieces of butterfly jewelry. Butterflies signify life's stages, as they change from caterpillars, to cocoons, till they burst forth in all their butterfly splendor.

I don't know if there's any meaning related to butterflies, but I love jewelry with it's shape. Actually, I have this big golden butterfly that I sometimes wear and it's been admired even in the shops by sellers! Which is weird because it's not gold or anything, but anyway. I wouldn't say the one in the photo is beautiful, but I do like it. I actually have a very similar one in black as a pendant...God, maybe I do have an obsession with butterflies... :-)

maybe Chinese like butterfly because the classical music legend of liang zhu, in which butterfly indicates more.
but don't know if there is some similar story in western world
