okay so one night a long while back I had a realistic dream of flying to this island and sat below a tree. After some time of animals being around and ignoring me a wolf aproached me and I realized after being with it that it was my guide. It laid beside me and I learned from it for some time about the ways of a wolf and the world and stuff all though it didn't always talk to me in a connection sort of way. I realize now that I had used a certain method to figure out my guide that I read online way after the dream but does it sound like a spirit guide or a physical guide? The dream felt way too real to be just a dream. Curious of which it is. Have any suggestions? And if it is one guide please give tips on how to find the other because I would like to know what my other guide is. I really love wolves, horses, rabbits, cats and anything mythical.

Another it may have been a message through a dream

"I'm Flying"
Flying dreams fall under a category of dreams where you become aware that you are dreaming, known as lucid dreaming. Many dreamers have described the ability to fly in their dreams as an exhilarating, joyful, and liberating experience. If you are flying with ease and enjoying the scene and landscape below, then it suggests that you are on top of a situation. You have risen above something. It may also mean that you have gained a different perspective on things. Flying dreams and the ability to control your flight is representative of your own personal sense of power.

In reality, we do not have the ability to fly. Thus such dreams may represent that which is beyond our physical limitations. In your mind, you can be anybody and do anything. Another way of interpreting flying dreams is that these dreams symbolize your strong mind and will. You feel undefeatable and nobody can tell you what you cannot do and accomplish. Undoubtedly these dreams leave you a great sense of freedom.

Wolf
To see a wolf in your dream, symbolizes beauty, solitude, mystery, self-confidence and pride. You are a loner by choice. Negatively, it represents hostility and aggression. It may also reflect an uncontrollable force or situation in your life. In particular, if the wolf is white, then it signifies valour and victory. You have the ability to see the light even in your darkest hours.

Horse
To see a horse in your dream, represents a strong, physical energy. You need to tame the wild forces. The dream may imply that you have been horsing around. Or perhaps you need to be less arrogant and "get off your high horse". To see a black or dark horse in your dream, signifies mystery, wildness, and the unknown. You may be taking a chance or gamble at some unknown area. It may even represents occult forces. If the horse is white, then it signifies purity, prosperity and good fortunes. To dream that you are being chased by a white horse, may be a pun on chaste. Perhaps you are having difficulties dealing with issues of intimacy and sexuality.

Rabbits
To see a rabbit in your dream, foretells of luck, magic and of a favourable turn of events and a positive outlook in your future endeavours. Alternatively, rabbits symbolize your sexual activity. To see a white rabbit in your dream, symbolizes faithfulness of a lover.

Cat
To see a cat in your dream, signifies much misfortune, treachery, and bad luck. However, for the cat lover, cats signifies an independent spirit, feminine sexuality, creativity, and power.

I have listed the meaning of the Wolf, Horse, Rabbit, Cat so you can see what the meaning of the animals are : )

You may want to read this book on the subject : Shamanism by Mircea Eliade This book is very good, it analysis the spirit guide subject world wide. Each tradition in the world actually has a number of Spirit Guides or Animals that according to specific culture one may have. Shamans in certain part of the world have as many guides as happens, in other parts you may have 1 and in other again 7... depends to what cultural tradition you follow. My personal thought is that we have one principal guide, but do meet many others as our path grows and it becomes necessary or right to meet even other ones that may be with you just for a while, while the one that is specifically yours stays always there...

Spirit guides can most definitly contact us in our dreams, and dreams are the most common way for a spirit or animal spirit to contact and communicate with us. We are in a state of openness and cannot block their messages out.
Flying is usually a sign of being relaxed or astral traveling-You need not know where you are-as the psirit world is vast and maybe never ending to th epossibilities of places to visit.
Wolves come to us to be teachers of wisdom. They know a lot and want to guide us through the difficult moments. They also help us develope our psychic abilities and to open up our third eye to the intiution that we need to use. It probably comunicated to you through telepathy and feelings-You just start to "know" things.
This is a spirit guide. A physical guide-is something Wiccans believe in as a familiar. Animals can be influenced to protect us in the physical world but they are not the same.
Animal guides give us more so wisdom, not so much protection.
Our human guides give us guidance on our path as well as protection from negative entities when we don't interfere by using our free will to let the negatives into our lives (ex: ouijaboards=bad idea).
Animal guides may not be the ones we like, they cme to us as they are needed.
I may love dogs, but I am already a loyal and loving person-I don't need his/her wisdom this life.
I have one that's a mouse, and I'm not particular fond of mice, but she helps me to analyse everything in details.

Totem animal guides -are 8, and two that cme and goSo you may have the wolf just for now, or it may ne a lifer.

You can communicate with your guides some more during dream sessions, when theyfeel it's the right time.

Animal Speak by Ted Andrews is a great resource. Wolves tend to be guides a lot but they are by far not the only ones.

I believe you met a spirit guide. What's a physical guide? You can meditate to find anything you want to know. Set the intent before you go to sleep. Say: "Tonight while my body sleeps my soul will find its guides." Our spirits go on adventures every night while our bodies rest.

sounds like an animal giude. They can be intresting but a fox spirit has a tendacie to be a bit mischievous from time to time. For a wolf though i have never had any problems with. A human spirit giude is alot harder to deal with.
