Upon parking my car at work, I realized my gas warning light came on, which means I have 5 litres of gas left or 1.32 gallons. I went to a station to fill up, but realized that I forgot my wallet...go I just drove back to work. I drive a G35 coupe, so it does go through gas quickly, at a rate of 17 mpg. I live 22 miles away from work.

Do you think I'll make it home? I drive home during rush hour though. I do have like $2 worth of change in my car, lol...should I put $2 of gas before I head out?

Put in $2 worth of gas if no one at ur workplace wud lend u some money just for the gas. I suppose u have some helping collegues sure enuf they can give u some money for gas? And if ur too proud to ask then get in the $2 worth gas then be sorry and crawl back home lol...it's no use worrying better find some solution and thne live in peace :D else u can ask for a coworker to give u a lift to ur home that way u can get some money the next day lol which means u leave ur car in office car park....now thats scary isn't it lol it's a G35 Coupe ur beloved ;-)

The warning lights on most cars will normally come on when you have about 2 gallons left. If you have some cash on hand I would use it just so you have that little something extra. If rush hour is a concern hang out at work for an extra hour and wait for the traffic to lighten up a bit. then make the mad dash home. If possible, some banks offer one time debit cards, you go to your bank, they issue you the car for a set ammount once your done with it you simply shred the card. Check in to that as well. Good luck.

So what happens if you encounter an accident on the way home, and you have to sit idling, moving ever so slowly past the accident because all the lanes are closed down to just one?

Nah, that kind of stuff never happens. You'll be fine. What's a lousy 22 miles? You'll get home okay.

If I were you, I'd borrow $10 from a friend and get a few liters before you head home. No sense in getting stuck by the side of the road and having to call a courtesy service or (worse) have an accident.

I would put the $2 worth of gas in. Maybe you can ask a coworker to loan you a little money until tomorrow. You probably have enough, but better safe than sorry.
