To me this is unbelievable. I had no idea that so many miners may be in one mine. About 3,200 miners were trapped a mile underground Wednesday in South Africa. It's a gold mine. 1,000 has been saved so far. Chime in if you had no idea this many miners would be underground in one mine, let alone, a mile underground.

I think we see a lot of speculation without any knowledge. It's one of being limited in your scope of the world and think everything must revolve around how things are here in the states.
A gold mine worker in South African earns 3 times the average South African. If you get $60,000 a year here in the states and your neighbor gets $180,000 a year, you won't call him poor, even if he won't loan you any money.
It is the top paying job for manual labor in South Africa.
Things are not as they seem... even 3,000 workers underground.
