ok i have very tough parents and i am doing terrible in this one class. now i know there is no way i could get my grade up in that class and the only thing i can do is to drop it which i think i am going to do soon. the class is not all that hard but i was partying and its my first class of the day. i cant tell my parents that, and i dont want to give them a stupid excuse because theyre not going to accept that. one of the problems is that now i am going to have to stay in for an extra semester before graduating. please give me anything that would make sense and is powerful enough. i am in deep need for anything. thanks

Why do you need to tell your parents? This is college - drop the class and take it again another semester.

You may not need to stay another semester either - most schools allow a max course load higher than you need to graduate, just take 18 hours in one semester instead of 12-15. You may also be able to add a half-semester class this semester if your school has such a thing. Most would call it Fall II.

If you need an excuse: the amount of study time needed for this class was interfering with your ability to get an A in [pick a class you're gonna get an A in]. You couldn't get an A in both, so you're going to take this one later.

Also - stop the partying if you want to graduate from college. A little social life is ok but remember, you're there to pass some classes. You won't be partying if mom and dad bring you home because you are wasting their tuition money.

Add for Genie: As someone who has 200 semester hours of undergrad and 40+ hours of graduate credit at 12 colleges with 2 bachelor's and a master's -- dropping a class is not "bad" like in high school. This is college and sometimes there are really good reasons to drop a class. It doesn't have to keep someone from graduating on time but taking a D or F in a class you could have taken a W in is not a bright idea. One F can keep Johnny out of grad school. That's also how many people fail out of college and they do it with parent support. To all parents: if Johnny says he needs to drop one - he needs to drop it; trust him, you're not in this class. This is not HS - he will get an F 'cause professors do give F's and they won't care at all what you think about it...

seems such as you're blockading out what you do no longer prefer to hearken to. It additionally feels like your innovations is so closed and your faith so vulnerable so which you may not be in a school type. there is not any excuse to drop a type via fact which you disagree with it. the suitable argument you may make is which you will desire to learn the textile and safeguard your place on its advantages, if it has any. how are you able to disagree with some thing you profess to no longer understand? the component to understand is that the guy lecturing the direction has extra wisdom than you do. The cut-off date has surpassed, pass to the professor and discover out what you ought to do to proceed to exist the direction. i'm extraordinarily specific that being a Christian isn't any excuse for something. extra, it brings shame upon Christianity so which you may apply that as an excuse. Are you arguing that Christians are so vulnerable minded that being a Christian is a valid excuse to drop a philosophy direction?

Dude I have been in your shoes. So many times it's ridiculous. If you really want to lie you can but your parents will know (or suspect). My advice is to show them that you are an adult who can take responsibility for your mistakes. They may seem like hard-asses but they are humans, too! They've made mistakes. You don't necessarily have to admit to the partying. Even non-partying college students stay up too late. Call it insomnia and be sincere. Even if it's on their dime, it's your life & another semester is better than what I did-drop out of VERY expensive schools time after time. They'll get over it. Maybe you'll pay them back!

As a parent, I would not like to hear that my son is dropping his class. It's our dream to have our kids finish schooling. Just tell the truth. They will be angry but they will understand. Just promise you won't be doing that again and you will concentrate on your studies. Open communication with your parents is very important.

Say that you had a TA who you could not understand because they barely spoke English and their accent was to thick. You understood the material and thought you were okay, but had to drop because you missed too much of went on in discussion.

Since your relationship with your parents is a lifelong one, I'd advise the truth.

That'll keep your bond of trust going, and that's more valuable than anything else! If they trust you, you'll get more good from them in the long run!

Say that you cannot work with the teacher because he/she is offensive/hates you, and you feel uncomfortable. But seriously, i can't believe you blew it senior year. whatever, carpe diem!
