Point being that if the policymakers didn't get 100% free health care courtesy of the taxpayers, and had to pay for some of it as everyone else has to do, they might be more rational about these issues.

"It is part of their employment package. They are paid employees."
It is an employment package with Health Benefits that very few Americans have. Most Americans have to pay some portion of their health insurance, and have limits, copayments, deductibles, non covered services. Not the case with the health insurance benefits accorded to Senators.

Because they feel the American people don't deserve it like they do.

Again the news media only tells half the truth. I am not a bush supporter, or due i often get engaged in political conversations, but this programs was doing nother but sucking up money. The program was flawed from the begining. There are thousands of Medical programs for children otu there that are either no cost or low cost, and thiswas just another one that the Govenment started with the intentions of growing it and then converting other plans like it into this program. The flaw was free, with the programs original concept it offerred health insurance to those that didn't have insurance even in states that offers a state based helth insurance program the uses a sliding scale for payments and participation. These other programs offered in over 40 states would only cost the parents of a family of 5, 2 adults and 3 children about $7.00 a month. well the people that where on these programs flocked over to the Fedral insurance plan and stopped paying the $7.00 dollars to get Totally free insurance. Well you know what happened, the program was only figured with so much money and when all those others that were paying for a state ultra low cost insurance flocked over to the Federal Governments plan it Broke it. I mean the budget went red, the doctors weren't getting paid and the quality of the health care was getting pretty bad, But instead of the news media reporting the massive more and tight budget it was going broke fast, they simply said that Bush Vetoed it and killed the program.
Well you know what, the Taxpayers are the one's footing the bill for these free loaders, and I am glad that they put and end to spending my money.
No i am not a hard *** and do feel bad for those without insurance, I have been there, but for anyone that need medical attention, I found there are tons of places that offer it free, and you can get free medicatin, the problem is people are lazy, it's easier to take a free hand out then it is to use the phone find a clinic, fill some paper work for freee medication.

Congressmen and Senators, have the exact same health insurance as every other Federal employee has.
They pay monthly premiums, just like anyone else who gets insurance thru work.
They make co pays, have deductables, etc,
Just like every other health insurance plan.
Only the President, Vice President and the active duty military gets free health care.
And then, only for them, not for their families.

Bush's current argument is classically conservative. By limiting the program, he will save taxpayer money and maintain the status quo. He says expansion of the program would move our system in the wrong direction. Health insurance for members of Congress and the administration is okay because it's status quo.

In order to follow your logic then all employees that receive health benefits are given free health care.
It is part of their employment package. They are paid employees.
This question barely deserved to be answered.

I also receive free healthcare from my employer. Congressmen are government employees.
It is classical liberal fuzzy thinking to be unable to distinguish between an earned benefit and a handout.
To the liberal mind they are the same.
I agree, this question does not even rate an answer.

Senators have better plans. The Problem with free healthcare is it would drain the budget. We're already screwed with the Social security, we spend trillions in war spending, and we have a pretty good economic deficit with China.
Politicians need healthcare like anyone else. the states should be in charge of the healthcare.

Bush is not against free health care, which is not free anywhere.. Bush is against a tax increase, socialized medicine and welfare states.. freebies from the government create a slave state.

Government employees have the same withholding from their paychecks the rest of us do, and they pay into their own benefits. Where in the hell do you people come up with these misconceptions? Do you actually believe your own B.S., or are you making this up just to justify your crazy arguments?
