I always vow that when the next on starts I will not watch it, but you hear others talking about it at work and you think I'll just watch one programme tonight. Then you find yourself watching it every night and it takes over your life again. I'm talking about Big Brother.

I find most of them pointless and boring. I enjoy Dancing with the Stars and American Idol. Amazing Race is good, too. My VERY favorite is Meerkat Manor. I might be the only person to call it a reality show, though. It IS about real life and not scripted like a lot of the other so called reality shows are. And it shows all the bad with the good. The head meerkat from the Whiskers clan died last week on the show as a matter of fact. Poor Flower!

Probably both - pointless to some, entertaining to others! The point is people can pick and choose whatever programme they want to watch. I love BB and Strictly Come Dancing and I am watching 'The Restaurant' at the moment which I find most entertaining. There are others that I don't watch at all.

I think the majority are pointless and not worth watching like Survivor, Big Brother, Rock Of Love, etc. Who cares? Who wants to see a bunch of people arguing in a house, or some has been play women.
Shows like Project Runway, Top Chef, etc, where you can see people achieve success in a craft are entertaining and you learn a little about that particular business.

A bit of both really! All programmes have there place depending on what mood i am in.
They all seem popular so we all must be pretty nosey!
I would prefer that the TV companies would invest in some new decent programmes now but I dont think they will.
Reality programmes seem set to stay and dumb ours/ childrens brains even more.

Some can be mildly entertaining, most are mind-numbingly pointless.
They are all relatively cheap to make so the programme makers are happy...providing tv to the masses for as little expense as they can get away with.

Reality TV isn't anything like reality. I find it all completely pointless, utter rubbish and probably harmful!

I hate to take an unpopular stand here but I personally love reality television for one purpose: it shows the American culture better than almost anything. The fact that we would rather watch a bunch of retarded drunk college drop outs fight over who is the best summary of a shallow culture than spend time with our families or god forbid go outside is highly entertaining.

BOTH! They're all pointless to some extent... But I'd rather see real life than someone's interpretation of what real life is... I'm bored of tired old sitcoms and dramas. It's mundane, but what makes it interesting is the fact it's real.
I'm not such a big fan of the dancing/singing/musicals 'talent' shows though, but long live BB!

To be quite honest I don't understand the point of reality TV shows, they do nothing at all for me. In fact I can't stand them.
I don't think there is anything 'reality' about them. If you had a camera pointing at you 24hrs of the day would you act normal or like yourself? Not at all, you would be self-conscious to a certain degree. So to me they are bull$hit and not reality at all.
To all those saddos that watch and support them by phoning in etc. - GET A LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
