Factory horsepower and torque ratings for those motors were seriously underrated....I love both of them but the Hemi probably had an edge on the Chev and had a lot more power potential as evident from most racers building the Hemi for upwards of 2000 horsepower in some situations.
I'd take either one---dual quad Hemi or 427 tri-power in a Charger or Chevelle...I once restored a 70 LS7 Chevelle SS 454 that was good for 500 HP stock but they were much rarer than LS6's.

Hemi Produced more Torque, the 427 had more HP. So I guess you need to defind power.

As far as drag strip races were concerned, hemi ruled. On the streets, out of the hole the rat motor had it, but as the rpm's built, watch out, here comes the hemorrhoid.

The Chevy has 425hp at 5600RPM and 460 lb-ft of torque at 4600RPM. The Mopar has 375hp at 4600RPM and 480lb-ft of torque at 3200RPM. As you can see, the chevy has more horsepower but the mopar has more torque.
