My buddy is a single guy that wants to move to Dallas and start over, mainly start his business. He has no children. I keep telling him to do it and feels he is told old to get started.

What can I tell my good friend to encourage?

Tough question! I kind of depends on what is going badly for him right where he is. If he just needs a fresh start, well Dallas is a big place with lots going on (I live close to Dallas). If he's in a bad place and maybe tempted to do some things that will drag his life down, a move could be good.

There's just one thing to remember, "Wherever you go...there you are!! I'm not trying to be a smart-Alec. Problems go with you when you move, there is no "geographical cure".

The best thing I can think to tell him is that you care about him and will back him up, no matter what he decides to do.

He's lucky to have a friend like you.

It's never too late.My husband was in his late 40's when he started his 3rd business, it failed but so what, he did the best he could. Never give up.We also had a son to take care of, you just have to have faith in yourself. What's the worst that can happen?

here's a Cicero quote ..."As I give thought to the matter, I find four causes for the apparent misery of old age: first, it withdraws us from active accomplishments; second, it renders the body less powerful; third, it deprives us of almost all forms of enjoyment; fourth, it stands not far from death.".......my grandfather used to have that over his work table....tell him he's never going to know if he doesn't at least try...
