I am black and tend to be conservative. It seems if I mention I am conservative I get called sellout and all kinds of names. and Lord knows I better not mention I like Clarence Thomas.

Why are we given a hard time?

I say, true equality and advancement in society comes from people truly voting their beliefs and not what their demographics dictate they "should."
I'm a woman, call myself a feminist and also happen to be a pro-life conservative. Liberal women have said that I "just don't know any better" or that I'm a "traitor"...why, because I have independent thought and don't buy this "victim" bull crap?

Grin and bear it. Historically, blacks have been liberals ( and I'm generalizing here) and many feel that there should be more government support of minorities. They feel that you are trying to deprive them of the support that their forefathers bought for them with their slavery. I personally feel that all that entitlement is worse for minorities since it doesn't give them any incentive to work for what they get. It teaches depencency. You hold you head up high and if they give you too hard a time, just smile and walk away.
