Wi-Fi is a wireless LAN, but not all wireless LAN's are Wi-Fi.

And Wi-Fi does not have to be connected to the internet.

Wi-Fi is a wireless network using the 802.11x protocols.

There are other types of wireless LAN's. Some use the Open Air protocol, HomeRF 1.0 or 2.0 and bluetooth.

Kinda. Wireless LAN is more of internal networking -- that is, you are connected with the computers inside your private network, and not the internet. Wi-Fi, however, is a connection to the internet via wireless.

One other thing: a wireless LAN setup can connect you to the internet, but not all.
