Ethyl alcohol exists in Listerine and a few other mouthwash products in a denatured state, making it unpalatable - that means the alcohol is inedible and should not be consumed.
Typically, alcohol is added as a solubilizer for other active ingredients in the mouthwash (this makes ingredients blend much easier), and not for consumption. Besides, I'm pretty sure that there is a warning on the label advising you not to consume Listerine; it then refers you to a poison control hotline.

And for those people who make comments or remarks that might be construed as promoting the use of Listerine as a means of inebriation, I'd be VERY CAREFUL.

Yes, you can. My mom used to work in a convenience store, and they had to keep the Listerine behind the counter ... because some people would steal the mouth-wash, in order to drink it and get drunk.

yes you can if you drink enough of it and fast enough you can get drunk off listerine just like you can cough medicine

I know it contains about 21.6% or 26.9% (in original Gold Listerine) alcohol, but to get drunk from it??
Nah, I don't think so..(at least I haven't tried to drink it, yet!)

Maybe..........if you drink enough!! I wouldn't suggest it. You might spend a night in the Emerg. room instead of being drunk!!:)(:

you may get drunk, but you'll defiantly get sick as a dog w/rabies. don't try this a buzz isn't worth your health.

I don't think you can get drunk from it, but you might test positive in an breathalizer.
