This is a difficult question to answer, even with knowledge of Penal Code section 1203.4 (which none of the answerers before this appears to have). Expungement under that statute in California does not actually remove the conviction from your record, but the record should show that the conviction was dismissed. There is some case law which says that you can then tell potential non-government employees that you were not convicted of the offense. However, the California Judicial Council says that you must say that you were convicted, and the conviction was dismissed. And, bottom line, whatever you say it is likely that a potential employer will be able to see the record, because the records go into all kinds of data bases.
My advice has always been to answer that "a misdemeanor charge was dismissed under Penal Code section 1203.4." There is no misrepresentation there.

If you get your criminal record expunged then no the employer can not see it.after it is expunged then again no do not say you have a criminal back ground. You are allowed one expunging in your lifetime. I believe it covers some felonies but not murder and or anything violent. Price I do not know but I do not believe you can do it without a lawyer. The last one is I do not know. I know in Illinois the jail guards and prison guards can have backgrounds as long as they are misdemeanors but I am not sure about the force. However if you do the criminal justice thing. get a 2 year degree from an accredited college they may overlook it if your grades are good.

Acriminal act is punishable by imprisonment of even death. There are so many criminal acts that a person may commit to deserve a punishment.Treason, rape, murder, homeside and other acts detrimental to the safety and life of another person is criminal. As to your question, DUI is not a felony, but a misdemeanor, submit to a fine or a jail time but the doer is not categorized as a criminal. As with your entering without the proper documentation, immigration department has the right to deport any illegal immigrant without violating any human rights law for it only exercised what is right. And to suggest that any person can be classified as a criminal by merely answering this question is not justifiable because it is not considered a criminal act to respond to a question.

Yes. It will not show up unless you need a security clearance. You do not have a criminal background. You don't just choose it - the court says so (get a lawyer). It may as police know how to game the system but probably won't other then state police.

Expungement is only removing the record of the crime but the fact that you committed a misdemeanor remains.

it's called expunged..anyway, i can't tell you if it will const you, call where your record is and ask to talk to someone in records. Once it's expunged...or removed, it is not supposed to show up, at least that's what i was told with my son. If this happened prior to being 18, there may not be any cost...again....check..look at this way, have you ever seen judge Mathis...he has a ton of things on his record...and he's judge...in terms of the police officer thing...i'd go into a local police office..or look on the internet..just type in your local newspaper.com....another thing you may want to check out..which is a lot less stress is being a parole officer...

You can't really have petty theft expunged. It's not seen as a big enough crime. You pretty much screwed yourself over man. I would move to Canada.
