... in their comments makes a nasty, rude, insulting comment, or just a "blah" sort of thing, like "whatever"? Why do people even choose it as a "Best Answer" if they do not at least SOMEWHAT LIKE your answer? It makes no sense to me... but maybe I'm not understanding these people... what do you think/feel?

as others have said, that is their problem. It has happened to me. I do not care. I am just here to have fun. I cannot go fishing every day, and the grandkids are in school so I cannot be with them all day long. Nothing on tv during the day (not that much at night either, and I have a satellite dish). I do not care if someone I do not even know insults me.
Sometimes I look at their profile again just to see what sort of a dork they are. It would be very hard for me to go through my answers and find the half dozen jerks who have done this in the past

You answered one of my questions earlier with such an intelligent point of view I thought I would snoop and take a peek at your questions. I hope I can help here with my opinion on why I think people do this. I think people do this because you are emailed when you are picked for a best answer and that is the only way they can be sure that you will click on it to come back to see if they had any additional comments to make to you....unfortunately, sometimes it is a slap in the face. Yes, this has happened to me before and I wanted nothing more than to have that persons phone number so that I could have a true argument with them...lol. Anyway, thanks for answering my question earlier.

I've had people give me Best Answer and not leave any comments or they just say thanks but I've never had anyone be actually rude!! When I give someone Best Answer I always make some kind of comments like comparing it to how I feel, or that it was a good question but I add something because I appreciate the fact that they took the time to answer one of my questions!! I also have never let one of my questions go to a vote!!

Gee, wyomugs, you're a Top Contributer in Etiquette.....that is a lost and dying art in todays world. Too bad. We could all use more of it.
To answer your question, I think some folks are more concerned with the opportunity for a putdown that's probably sure to be read. I know you must be mentally conditioned to think POLITE...Quit that. We're talking Yahoo, and maybe a bunch of teenagers that might not be able to spell Etiquette, much less define it or demonstrate it.
If they're adults who have no scruples (new millenium for etiquette) that's worse, but that's Yahoo. Maybe it's a way for the mentally challenged to get a dig in. Yahoo is definitely a Jungle. Don't feed the animals.

I think they purposely choose a person's answer, just so that they can insult that person. It doesn't have anything to do with you, or what you said ... it's about them. They're not happy with their life, so, they want to try and make everyone else feel as bad as they do. Don't worry about it .. it's really not worth your time or worry. :)

I don't bother reading the comments. I just accept my 10 points and laugh all the way to the P&S Bank.

I hate it when people do that...I think they didn't feel like reading all the answers, so they picked one just to get their 3pts. back. I always write nice things when I select a best answer.

It also annoys me when they give your answer a rating of only 1 star....& leave no exclamation as to why your answer wasnt good.

I'm just here for the points so I really don't care what kind of comment they write as long as they award me "best answer," LOL!
