I do like to play dice, but it also come from the GI Joe Series as California Cutie said. I will let you all vote this one out as it seems un fair to pick a best here. California Cutie was the most right though.

I would say that it comes from the 80's Comic "GI Joe: A Real American Hero" as Snake Eyes was the commando on the GI Joe team, he was involved with Scarlett and was a mute, speaking only in sign language, does that cover it?
Oh, he also had a pet wolf named "Timber"?
