Eyewitness is a person who personally saw the crime take place. A witness is any person who has information about the crime.
For example, a person who saw a car leaving an address that was burglarized or saw someone running out of the building would be an eyewitness. The owner of the building who would say that the defendant did not have permission to be in the building would just be a witness.
Other people who would just be a witness would include the crime scene technician who dusted for fingerprints or the friend of the defendant who overheard him bragging about the burglary.

The clue is in the question.
An eyewitness is someone who actually sees what went on. A witness can mean someone you get to accompany you while you are involved in something.
A dictionary would be a wise purchase!

A witness is someone who has firsthand knowledge about a crime or dramatic event through their senses (e.g. seeing, hearing, smelling, touching) and can help certify important considerations to the crime or event. A witness who has seen the event firsthand is known as an eye-witness. Witnesses are often called before a court of law to testify in trials.
