I've been tired as hell all day long and have been looking forward to sleeping but now I'm wide awake like I just chugged 3 red bulls or something.

Are we mind melding, S? I am bone tired and have a LOT on my mind. I didn't sleep at ALL last night, even after six Advil PM's and some Soma. I just lay there in the dark, tossing and turning. I usually read a book before I go to sleep, or a chapter, with my trusty booklight. Also I am out of a natural supplement called Melatonin. Look for it in the vitamin section. The 5mg. ones knock me out completely. I didn't sleep at ALL last night until 5AM and finally I fell asleep for a few hours. Take a hot bath and stretch a little. You have my sympathy. Good luck. I suppose we are the Night Owls :o)

Your body falls asleep from your feet up to the head. If your at work and don't move much your legs and chess fall somewhat asleep then your tired all day. Its not as simple as moving your feet you have to really shake it off with a walk or a small jump.
When you get home your brain is stimulized at the fact that now you can relax but with your moving and with the brain stimulated you can't sleep. But you can, just relax on your bed and don't move, 6-7hours after you should see your REM sleep(dreams). If by any chance you don't fall asleep while not moving try not thinking as much too.
Also be careful to go to sleep at the same time every day so that your body clock as an idea how you function. If your not dreaming now\ever, you found half your problem(7h min).
