number 1 is why doesn't the nursing home get her ssi. It is for here not you. also although if you can find a lawyer i suppose you could get everything in you name as long as your mother is lucid and does not have any mental defects.I am also wondering why you are not working. It is not up to her being in a nursing home to foot your bills. Yes you are in her house but she raised you and now it should be your turn to take care of her.

The most sensible thing to do is to spend down her assets and sell the home and spend down that money. The care is so costly that you will not be able to keep her in there to long paying cash. Contact a Center for Independent Living, or an Office on Aging to show you the ropes. It is complicated and has to be done the right way. You need to be sure that you benefit from any program that you might qualify for. Apply for everything. You can get enough to live independently if you have enough assistance. Best of luck to you. Millions of Americans face this exact situation you are in. I am facing a sandwich family where I have a kid to raise and a parent to assist. Make some phone calls and see what can be worked out. Call the Social Worker at the nursing home and have her assist you with all of this. They get paid to aid the patients and their family.

Best of luck to you!!

I worked for a guy as quickly as as an hha and he instructed me he as quickly as owned his living house and his cpa instructed him to sell the living house to his son for $a million and then he ought to stay in it loose and clean together with his son's approval and might then be waiting to stay off welfare. He reported the cpa reported human beings try this each and every of the time. Now I understand that's no longer the moral thank you to guard issues, merely asserting that's what human beings do. Will they examine for merely cd's, i do no longer think of so. Will "you" would desire to pay your mom's invoice? in all probability no longer if she does not have any money. i do unlike nursing properties, even although if a guy or woman desires pictures or medicine that i can't supply a kinfolk member then I see a nursing living house as a final hotel. Nursing properties are rather costly and the greater applicable selection (in the adventure that your mom continues to be continent and is no longer super unwell) is to furnish a room and tub at your residence. some states even supply tax credit for households that try this. And, that guy or woman feels like they're nonetheless a factor of the kinfolk.and that they gained't get as depressed as they might in the event that they have been in a nursing living house.

Umm.. how are you living on her social security??? That is the FIRST thing a nursing home will take as it is money that has the sole purpose of taking care of your MOTHER. It's actually quite wrong that you are using that money.
Secondly, the house and all other financial earnings in your mother's name need to be placed in your name. This is quite simple if your mother is of sound mind. If she isn't, you will have one heck of a time transferring it.
Don't you have a job? Why are you living off of your mother's money? All of the money you are living on should be going towards you mother's bills and future nursing home care.

you need to see a good attorney as soon as possible. You may have to get a job yourself unless you have a reason for not working and these are things an attorney can handle. If the Cd's are in your name I don't think they can touch them but they may be able to get some if not all of her social security checks.

You'll have to refer to your state's laws in this regard. If you can afford it, see a lawyer.
