Possibly.
Extra-terrestrials won't come to Earth. It would take over 100,000 years just to get here from Proxima Centauri (The nearest star) if traveling 25,000 mph, but there aren't even any planets orbiting Proxima Centauri.
In response to Balloon Buster: You're right... I can't say what the future may hold, but the question was asked about the possibility of aliens coming to Earth within our LIFETIME. I took a guess, using the above logic. Whatever technology we might possess in the future, and whatever technology E.T.'s might have is something we can only speculate about, since nobody can see the future or observe alien technology.
The likelihood of E.T. visitors is so minuscule, it's almost not worth considering. First, they'd either have to find us, or we'd have to find them. If we find a signal of some kind, that signal is likely to be hundreds or thousands of years old. Then we'd still have the problem of transportation. I'm aware of many of the hypothetical methods of space travel, and my response didn't speak to that because years, if not decades of planning would be needed, and the budget would have to be phenomenal. Anti-matter isn't quite something you can make in your back yard (then again, I live just blocks from The Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory). A project like that has to be at least a lifetime away. Just look how long it's been since Bush first mentioned a trip back to the moon and an inaugural trip to Mars. How are those projects coming along? How many years has it been since they started the CERN project, and how many times has it's opening been pushed back? Revolutionary technology, such as the type Dr. Forward hypothesized about, is not even close to being a reality.

WWIII with nuclear weapons is becoming increasingly likely.
Aliens coming is not nearly so likely, although I cannot say with absolute certainty that they haven't already been here. Insufficient data.
Edit: Cathy with a K. You are presuming a limit to the speed we might achieve. The physicist, Robert Forward has already described a difficult but do-able way to build a matter-antimatter star drive, making several other solar systems within a one lifetime journey. Others are still arguing about a couple of possible ways to build a, for want of a better term, "warp drive." Since none of them yet have the capability of saying, "Let there be darkness" and having the stars all go out or whatever your belief system calls for, I suggest we cannot say what the future may hold.

One could argue that we are currently engaged in a world war, albeit an unconventional war (western nations vs. islamic fundamentalism). I don't think a world war fought in the way in which world wars i and ii were fought are out of the question by any means. A nuclear war is also not out of the question, but let's just say I actually think it is less likely than a conventional war.

I think that's how the world is going to end. Someone is going to piss someone off and then everyone is going to blow everyone up.
