i think it's a fact.
I met my hubby, and within a couple of dates i just 'knew' he was the one for me, and he felt the same way. it feels like we've known each other for ever, and at the same time feels like the past 4.5 yrs has been no time at all. I trust him completely, i love him so much. and i can't imagine life without him. my life before him doesn't seem real, and when i think back to it, my brain tries to insert him into it, because it's hard to comprehend a time when i didn't know him.

It's kind of a difficult question to really answer simply. For one thing, there's the literal meaning of "soul mates" which supposes that souls are real and each soul has a magically pre-determined mate. That's never been proven to be true, nor disporven.
Then there's the non-literal meaning where "soul mate" just means the one person that you match with better than anyone else. But that can't really be proven either because no matter how much a couple loves each other and gets along, There's no way to know whether or not there are other people out there that they could have been just as well-matched with.
So basically, I don't think it can be realistically claimed to be either fact or myth. No one knows the answer.

I belive that sou mates are both fact AND myth. I know that I found mine in my soon-to-be-husband, but I also kow that at 16 I wanted a ex-boyfriend to be that soul mate. When its real and you find you one true soul mate, you "just know" .... you just feel it in your being. Its hard to explain, but when you find it, you'll know
One the other hand, just so you have both sides of my oppinon, there is a soul mate, but you don't always find them in this life. Just because you may not meet your soul mate this time around does not meen that you will never have a happy, successful marage. The is love, true love, and soul mates.

I think it is a fact.
Does that mean life is perfect and rosey all the time? Not at all. But when you are with your soul mate, you work through life's challenges together. You tend to put the other person first, which makes everyone happy. And above all, you know that you will always be there for each other.

Fact, but it's not what you think. Soul mates don't have to be a romantic interest. It could be the best friend that knows what you are thinking without you saying anything, or your sybling that seems to be the only one that understands. My husband isn't my soul mate but he is the love of this life.

I think the term "soul mate" means different things to different people. To me it means someone you were meant to be with or someone you have a kindered spirit with. Yes, I most definitely believe in "soul mates" and believe that my late husband was mine.
