My doctor gave me free sample packages of my first birth control pill a while ago, and they just ran out this month. I went back and got a prescription yesterday, and paid to have it filled for the first time. But I've never had a regular prescription before, and honestly, I don't know how it works; what evidence to I have to submit when I go back for refills next month? The package? The pharmacy took my doctor's prescription note; was I supposed to ask for that back? Will I have to go back to my doctor?

look on your package it will say if you have refills or not. You can drop the package off or call the pharmacy and give them the RX # a day before you need it that way it will be ready when you get there, easier on the pharmacy, and they could order it if they didn't have it. No you can't have the script back. That is our proof that you had an order for your bc. If he didn't write you refills just call the office and tell them you need them to call in a refill on your bc it shouldn't be a problem.Relax it's easy.

YOU DID RIGHT BY LEAVING THE PRESCRIPTION WITH THE PHARMACY. THEY HAVE THE INFO IN THE COMPUTER NOW. A FEW DAYS BEFORE YOU RUN OUT, CALL AND LET THEM KNOW THAT YOU WANT A REFILL. CHECK YOUR PACKAGE, AND SEE HOW MANY REFILLS. WHEN YOU GET THE LAST REFILL ASK THE PHARMACY IF THEY WILL CALL THE DR FOR A NEW PRESCRIPTION OR IF YOU NEED TO SEE THE DR BEFORE YOU CAN GET A NEW PRESCRIPTION. YOU MAY WANT TO CHECK THE PRICES BEFORE TIME FOR THE NEXT REFILL. THERE ARE BIG DIFFERENCES IN PRICES. THEY JUST TRANSFER THE INFO FOR YOU IF YOU MOVE IT. HAVE A BLESSED DAY.

your package should have the prescription label on it stating how many refills you have. You can either take that with you and ask for a refill from the same pharmacy or you SHOULD be able to just go in without it. They have your prescription on file and can look that up. I just pop in and ask for a refill and i get it 5 minutes later. It's nice to have the label though then you know for sure how many refills you have left to make sure you schedule your pap before you run out.

The paper prescription has to be kept by the pharmacy for legal reasons.
When it is time for your refill, call the pharmacy. Most pharmacies have an automated service in which you just will type in your prescription number.
Pharmacists and techs like it when you give them several hours to do the refill.

The prescription itself will have the refills in there. It might or might not be on the bottle some where if it's not just ask the pharmacy next time. Or call and give them the number on the bottle and they can tell you.
