In the dark. I don't mean to sound smart a## about it but I believe that. I was always afraid of height ever since I was a little boy but I grew up and so disliked being afraid I started climbing anything, mountains, hills, rocks, anything that I thought would scare me and many did. But I did it! A few years ago I jumped out of an airplane and parachuted to the ground...I was terrified and shaking so badly on the plane I don't think anyone else believed I would go through with it. But I did it! What you fear is the unknown and the only solution is to come to know it. It's hard and takes time and has setbacks but it does work.

Close your eyes! Then you won't know if its dark or not.

A flashlight helps. A nightlight. But that is only for starters.

You need to learn to move in the dark. Find a big space you can safely move around in and spend time there in the dark.

Use your ears. Use your other senses more.

The dark is a wonderful place.

The strength and safty is within you. You can enlarge your 'self' and feel safe.

Two things you could try:

When you feel like turning your light back on, or switching on a flashlight, force yourself not to. It doesn't matter how terrified you get -- if you don't give in to it (by turning on a light) then you've conquered your fear.

Also, if it's more of 'what's in the dark' that frightens you, remember that only one of your senses is blinded. Try tuning into your other senses. Listen, feel, and try to sense where stuff is around you.

many ways!!! try theses:

(A) desensitize yaself in a step by step procedure:
(1) place yaself in a dark room for 1 minute on day 1. note your feelings n thoughts during that min.
(2) place yaself in the dark room for 2 minutes..
(3) increase time...indicate your feelings and thoughts each time. focus on the decrease in anxiety and fear with each passing day.

(B) using rational thoughts:
(1) write down your fears on a sheet of paper.
(2) rate how rational/logical/scientific each of your fears are.
(3) beside each fears, write down what is the WORSE that can happen should each fear come true!
(4) you will realise that each fear is not really that rational!
(5) for each fear u listed, challenge your fears by writing down a LOGICAL thought.
(6) place yourself in a dark room and repeat LOGICAL thoughts to yourself - increase time in dark room slowly.

(C) flooding (not for the faint hearted)
(1) put yaself in a dark room for a long period of time.
(2) when u emerge, realise tat u r ALRIGHT. none of your fears are realized.
(3) remember the experience n the consequences whenever u are in a dark room.

best of luck!

Let us take of example of clouds."Every cloud has a silver lining".So, the light is hidden behind the dark.Generally,we say that there is total darkness is everywhere around us.Because,we've cloesed our eyes ourselves. And we,cry that dark is infront of us.Just open your eyes, and see the Light. So, my dear, actually, the fear of darkness is itself inside us.So,keep away the darkness, we wouldve to become a Sun.Shining always, giving energy and Light to everbody forever.God bless you and give a power of Sun.

have always been scared of the dark. I might leave the tv on all night. I've been hearing these strange noises in the house at spooky times. Its good because I don't feel so scared as they disarm me.
