Good physics answers, but not so good engineering answers. If you give me a 6 decimal place number you are saying that you know the value to one part in one million. And so on. And, in engineering, you pay for each decimal place. A 1% measurement is commonplace, a 0.1% is getting expensive, a 0.01% is raising a few eyebrows and some proof of reality is needed.
